Quebec Gambling

casino 300x226 Quebec Gambling Quebec is a province in the eastern part of Canada. Government of Quebec is facing much scrutiny over a plan for the Montreal racetrack. The administrations are attempting to turn the track into a special gambling complex. The city feels that the administration is breaching a prior agreement by doing so. City Councilor Marvin Rotrand said the government had promised that the racetrack as well as every gambling activity would be moved out of the area. He said in its place would be the development of a residential neighborhood. According to him “It (housing) would not only give young families the opportunity to remain in the city, it would attract suburbanites back in the city. It’s nonsense for a valuable piece of land of this size and scope so close to downtown, so close to the airport, across for the metro, near to several auto routes to lie empty year after year.”

Already the administration has proposed the gambling complex as part of a huge bailout package. On the other hand, the opposition to the package has come fast and furious. Last Monday some groups are expected to publicly oppose the bail out. Rotrand said, “The government would have to impose this on us.” Rotrand has been a city councilor for a long time. He thinks that he has enough support to stop the governments’ efforts and use the land for what it was actually intended for. However, there is a possibility till now that the bail out package for the racetrack can fall through. More to the point that breeders and horsemen are against the recent version of the bail out, this can cause it to fall apart all together. So, the productivity of current bail out now totally depends on time.
